We have three types of child car seats approved by Transport Canada and suitable for your child’s weight‚ height and age․ They are checked before every trip and replaced every three years from the manufacture date․

Rear-Facing Infant Seat (Birth to 10 kg / 22 lbs)

These are for newborns and babies not exceeding the seat’s weight limit for rear-facing․ They cradle the infant at a reclined angle and are anchored to the vehicle via the UAS (Universal Anchorage System) strap․ Ideal for transfer after newborn hospital discharge and early airport travel․

Forward-Facing Toddler Seat (10 kg to 18 kg / 22 to 40 lbs)

Once children‌ outgrow a rear-facing car seat‚ the forward-facing toddler seat has a five-point harness that attaches the seat to the vehicle with a tether strap and UAS anchors (the harness straps are at or above the shoulders)․ This is the‌ most commonly requested seat for children one to four years old․

Booster Seat (18 kg to 36 kg / 40 to 80 lbs, under 145 cm tall)

This is required when a child is still too large for the forward-facing seat‚ but not large enough to be properly secured by a seat belt․ A booster seat brings the child up to the proper height so the lap belt fits across the hips and not the abdomen‚ and the shoulder belt fits across the chest and not the neck․ Ontario law requires booster seats for children under the age of eight who fall within these weight ranges․

Ontario Child Car Seat Law: What Parents Flying into Toronto Need to Know

However‚ Section 8․1 of Ontario Regulation 613 says that taxi drivers and drivers of for-hire limousines are exempt from this law․ So once again your Ontario taxi driver will be able to pick your child up at Pearson Airport to take them home while sitting in a vehicle using just a regular seat belt․ No booster‚ and no harness‚ means no penalty for driver․
